Study of various classifications of commonly used narcotics, dangerous drugs, gambling, sex crimes, fraud, gangs and investigative techniques; and identify proper interaction procedures and techniques.
CJLE-2420  Texas Peace Officer Procedures
Study of the techniques and procedures used by police officers on patrol. Includes controlled substance identification, handling abnormal persons, traffic collision investigation, note taking and report writing, vehicle operation, traffic direction, crowd control, and jail operations. This is a TCLEOSE-approved sequencing course to satisfy requirements to sit for the Basic Peace Officer licensure exam in addition to obtaining an Associates or Bachelors Degree with approval of the department chair.
CJLE-2421  Texas Peace Officer Law
Study of laws directly related to police field work. Topics include Texas Transportation Code, intoxicated driver, Texas Penal Code, elements of crimes, Texas Family Code, Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code, and civil liability. This is a TCLEOSE-approved sequencing course to satisfy requirements to sit for the Basic Peace Officer licensure exam in addition to obtaining an Associates or Bachelors Degree and approval of the department chair.
CJLE-2522  Texas Peace Officer Skills
Requires the demonstration and practice of the skills of a police officer including patrol, driving, traffic stop skills, use of force, mechanics of arrest, firearm safety, and emergency medical care. This is a TCLEOSE-approved sequencing course to satisfy requirements to sit for the Basic Peace Officer licensure exam in addition to obtaining an Associates or Bachelors Degree and approval of the department chair.

Introduction to the field of criminalistics. Topics include the application of scientific and technical methods in the investigation of crime including location, identification, and handling of evidence for scientific analysis.

This course examines the cases, treatment and prevention of crime and delinquency. Students will analyze the various aspects of deviant behavior, criminological and methodological, relative to the social sciences.
